Evergreen or Topical: What's the difference?

Content is either evergreen or topical, and both have their place.

Evergreen is content that still gathers leads and interested readers as the years go on. It’s content that is relevant and interesting long after it’s written.

Topical content is relevant right now. It usually relates to a trend, event, or exciting news topic. It has a much shorter marketing lifespan but should still hold a firm place in your monthly content strategy.

A typical example of evergreen content is blog articles. Anything that provides guidance that stands the test of time or provides insight into something useful is evergreen.

Your content strategy should include a lot of evergreen content. It’s also important to note that a good SEO strategy includes regularly updating evergreen content.
